As part of the SATSO Production and Digital Transformation Center project, which will be implemented under the leadership of the Sakarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a comprehensive consultation meeting was held at the facilities of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey.
The SATSO delegation, consisting of Chairman of the Board A. Akgün Altuğ, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Commission Chairman Bülent Yazıcı, and Secretary General Şevket Kırıcı, met with senior executives of Toyota Türkiye to evaluate the strategic framework of the center.
During the meeting, all components of the center were discussed, particularly SATSO IN-FAB (Model Factory and Industrial Transformation Center), which will be established with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye. The discussions also covered the IN-FAB, MetalEX, and e-ComEX modules, which together form an integrated structure spanning production, human resources, and digital commerce. The architectural concept of the center was also presented.
An Integrated Holistic System
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Altuğ emphasized that transformation in manufacturing is no longer an option but a necessity:
“Today, competitiveness in manufacturing is shaped not only by speed, quality, and cost, but increasingly by efficiency and data-driven systems.
Our goal is to establish a fully integrated ecosystem by combining the proven expertise and decades-long experience of our companies with the capabilities of our center, creating a productive complex that contributes to every layer of Sakarya’s manufacturing ecosystem.
Beyond training, we aim to build a structure that measures, analyzes, and improves production processes.
Through digital twins, data analytics, AI-powered decision-making systems, and process simulations, our members will be able to monitor their operations in real time, make data-driven decisions, and manage losses in a measurable way.”
Partnership with Experienced Companies
Chairman Altuğ also highlighted the importance of strategic collaboration:
“With the institutional strength and more than a century of history of our Chamber, combined with Toyota’s proven Kaizen philosophy, manufacturing excellence, sustainability initiatives, commitment to women’s employment, and carbon-neutral efforts, we are working to establish the most efficient transformation center for Sakarya and Türkiye.
We will advance this project together with many leading companies that have made a significant impact in their respective fields.”
Twin Transformation as the Backbone
Altuğ stated that digital transformation and green transformation will form the backbone of the center:
“Energy efficiency, resource utilization, carbon footprint management, and sustainable production practices will be integral components of this structure.
Our objective is to create a transformation model that delivers measurable results in the field and permanently enhances the competitiveness of our industrial sector.
Rather than generating attention through promotion, we want to make an impact through exemplary work. We will succeed as the benefits we create for each company and individual spread further through their own experiences.
As a Chamber, we have pioneered many projects. We have rolled up our sleeves to show entrepreneurs what can be achieved, help them find the right markets, secure financial support, and ensure their long-term sustainability. May it bring prosperity to our city and our country.”
Following Chairman Altuğ’s remarks, Secretary General Şevket Kırıcı presented the center’s technical architecture and operational model.
Kırıcı explained that the center is designed around a diagnosis–design–implementation–measurement cycle. Companies entering the system will undergo multidimensional assessments covering production lines, capacity utilization, bottlenecks, quality performance, and digital maturity levels.
Based on these analyses, customized transformation roadmaps will be developed. Within the IN-FAB module, lean manufacturing, process optimization, and digital production applications will be tested through both simulations and real production environments. The MetalEX module will provide applied training and capability development in advanced manufacturing and welding technologies, while e-ComEX will support the end-to-end structuring of companies’ digital commerce operations.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Toyota Türkiye officials stated that, if implemented effectively, the center’s holistic approach could become a benchmark model not only for Sakarya but also for the transformation of industry across Türkiye, and expressed their readiness to contribute to the project.
