The delegation from the Ibadan Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) and the Ilesa Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ILECCIMA), hosted in Sakarya by MÜSİAD Sakarya Branch Chairman Ahmet Cihan, visited SATSO.
Hosted by SATSO Chairman of the Board A. Akgün Altuğ and accompanied by MÜSİAD Sakarya Branch Chairman Ahmet Cihan, the delegation included ICCIMA 2nd Vice President Segun Bolaji, ILECCIMA 1st Vice President Prince Olugbenga Lufadeju, and accompanying representatives.
During the visit, the parties exchanged views on the activities of SATSO and the Nigerian chambers, projects benefiting their members, and initiatives aimed at the business communities of both countries, particularly in the fields of economy and production. Opportunities for bilateral trade cooperation were also evaluated.
President Altuğ emphasized that Sakarya is a province with production across a wide range of sectors and product groups, highlighting that this provides strong opportunities for various forms of cooperation. He said:
“We are pleased to host dozens of delegations from many countries at our Chamber throughout the year. Most recently, we hosted another Nigerian delegation in 2022.
Nigeria is one of the leading countries on the African continent, and although our trade is growing, it continues to progress in a fluctuating manner. In 2025, we exported USD 3.5 million worth of goods to Nigeria and imported USD 161,000. This is a very low trade volume for both sides, and we need to increase it further.
We have significant production capabilities, particularly in the automotive sector, and we are home to major companies such as TOYOTA and their suppliers. We also have a critical role in the defense industry. Most of our imports consist of raw materials that are processed here and transformed into value-added products.
We believe that we will grow through production, and we are open to all kinds of business ideas that can contribute to the development of both countries. Our Chamber has a strong institutional memory and is a 109-year-old organization. As a Chamber, we can also share the experience we have accumulated.”
The Nigerian delegation thanked President Altuğ for his kind hospitality, emphasizing the importance of further increasing trade between the two countries. They also underlined their commitment to cooperation and their efforts to maintain more frequent communication.
